What is a Notary Signing Agent?

A Notary Signing Agent is a Notary who is specially trained to handle and notarize loan documents. For lenders, Notary Signing Agents are the critical final link to complete the loan. A Notary Signing Agent is hired as an independent contractor to ensure that real estate loan documents are executed by the borrower, notarized, and returned for processing on time.

Acceptable Forms of ID:

Identifiation must be presented at the time of the Notarial Services. ID must be current or issued within the last 5 years and bear a serial or ID number.

  • U.S. passport issued by the U.S. Department of State

  • U.S. military ID

  • State, county and local government IDs

  • Permanent resident card, or "green card," issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

  • Foreign passport, if stamped by the U.S. Department of Justice, Immigration and Naturalization Service

  • Driver's license officially issued by a Territory of the United States, another state, Mexico or Canada

  • Requesting Notarial Services:

  • Understand the type of Notarial Service you require (i.e. Acknowledgement, Jurats, Oath / Affirmation, Certified Copy, Witness / Attest Signatures)

  • Make sure your Identification is valid.

  • Make sure the your identification matches your name on the document (s) to be notarized.

  • All parties signing must be present, with valid ID.

  • Understand the document you are signing.

  • Documents must have all applicable blanks filled in.

  • For Jurats & Affidavits, Signature Line should be left blank. Notary has to witness you signing the document.
